Felix Kubin - Thursday the 20th March @ SNAFU

"If there'd be one man to send to the aliens as an example of the mankind, that'd be Felix Kubin.

"I am a child living in the body of Juri Gagarin. He is empty like a corpse. His eyes move slowly like radars. First comes the idea then the technology. Children are angels, sometimes they fall into nothingness. I am Juri's ventriloquist." - FELIX KUBIN

I know this is last minute,

I know this is last minute, but this guy is seriously good! Really recommended if you can make it along :)

His style veers from retro-scifi weirdness to pounding techno with bizarrely endearing ease - A real eccentric of the electronic scene. He's even soundtracked a stage-play for real dogs.

EEK! Just read the

Evacuated? What happend last night?

I never bothered, as I looked at his MySpaz page, listend to the tracks on there, and said, Em... no.

It does not sound especially musical... but then, perhaps he's better live...?

Considerably FASTER than thou....

Not long before Mr. Kubin

Not long before Mr. Kubin was due to go on, a few drips starting falling on the dancefloor. By the time he was about to start it was a constant stream in multiple places. No one was allowed on the dancefloor, so we all had to stand near the mixing desk and watch from afar - He got a few tunes out before they had to shut the venue, the flood spreading towards the bar area and coming in through the lights.

Burst pipe from Five above, apparently, but it was a hell of a mess when we left - Poor Snafu :/ Felix Kubin was sounding amazing, and took it all in great humour, but I'm gutted we didn't get the full set and just a brief 'taster' of his music.

It was kind of magical when we emerged with his gear into the snow, and it somehow made everything ok. Felix was very excited about the new recordings he made of fire alarms and the tonal range of all the dripping into the various, ad-hoc containers being used. Expect some oddball 'Aberdeen Live' record out sometime soon...
